    有位年轻人问苏格拉底，成功的秘诀是什么。苏格拉底要这个年轻人第二天早晨去河边见他。第二天，他们见面了，苏格拉底让这个年轻人陪他一起向河中心走，河水没过他们的脖子时，苏格拉底趁年轻人没防备，一下子把他按入水中，小伙子拼命挣扎，但无济于事。直到小伙子奄奄一息的时候，苏格拉底才把他的头拉出水面，年轻人来不及说任何话，先深深吸了一口气。苏格拉底问：“在水里你需要什么？”年轻人答：“空气。”苏格拉底说：“这就是成功的秘诀。当你渴望成功的欲望就像你刚才需要空气的愿望那样强烈的时候，你就会成功。”

    读了这则故事，我才明白了我们平凡人没有成功的原因，那正是因为我们成功的欲望不像求生那样强烈，我们没有主动地去追求成功，而是等待它的降临。就这样消极地、被动地等待着，又怎么会成功呢？
